Soccer Basics

New to soccer betting? Don’t worry, we’ve broken it all down for you. From understanding how soccer bets work to learning about popular markets, bet types, and bet credits, this guide will help you get started with confidence.

Match Rules: Know What You’re Betting On

Before placing a bet, it's important to understand how match timing affects your bet. Most soccer bets are based on the standard 90 minutes of play, but some include extra time or penalties. Here's a quick guide:

90 Minutes Play
All standard bets are settled based on 90 minutes plus injury/stoppage time. Extra time and penalties are not included unless stated.

First/Second Half Betting
Applies only to the first or second 45 minutes (including injury time for that half).

Extra Time Betting
Covers only the extra 30 minutes after normal time ends. The score starts at 0-0.

To Qualify Betting
You're betting on a team to progress to the next round and includes normal time, extra time, and penalties.

Goalscorer Bets
First, last, or anytime goalscorer markets are available. Bets are void if the player doesn't play or comes on after the first goal (for first scorer bets).

In-Play Next Goalscorer
Pick who will score the next goal after your bet is placed.

Method of Next Goal
Bet on how the next goal will be scored, header, penalty, own goal, etc.

Match Betting – 1UP/2UP Early Payout
Get paid out early if your team goes one (1UP) or two (2UP) goals ahead, whether your team goes on to win or lose.

Special Markets: What Can You Bet On?

There’s more to soccer betting than just picking a winner. These markets let you bet on what happens in the match, not just the final result:

Goal Markets – Bet on total goals, both teams to score, or first/last goals.

Corners Markets – Wagers on the number of corners in the match or by each team.

Card Markets – Bets on how many yellow/red cards are shown, or which players will be booked.

VAR Markets – Place bets on decisions overturned or awarded by VAR (Video Assistant Referee).

Bet Builder – Combine multiple selections (e.g., goals, cards, corners) from one match into a single custom bet. All selections must win for a return.

Player Performance:

Want to focus on individual players? Player performance markets let you back specific actions by a player during the match:

To Score Anytime

First/Last Goalscorer

To Be Carded

Shot(s) on Target

To Assist a Goal

Tackles Made

Fouls Committed

Offsides

Goals from Outside the Box

Bet Types: How to Place Your Bet

There are several ways to bet, from a simple single to more complex multiples. Here’s a quick guide to the most common soccer bet types:

Single – One pick, one outcome. Win = payout.

Double – Two picks. Both must win.

Treble – Three picks. All must win.

Parlay (Accumulator) – Four or more picks rolled into one bet. All must win for a return.

Multiples – A group of bets made from a pool of picks (e.g. doubles, trebles, 4-folds, etc.).
